The pioneer Chairman of the Zamfara State Football Association, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kado Yahaya Gusau, is dead.
Gusau died in the Zamfara State capital on Sunday after a brief illness at the age of 74.
The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, was at Gusau’s family house on Monday to console the family.
Sanusi said: “The Nigeria Football Federation sympathises with the Zamfara State Football Association and the immediate family of Alhaji Abdulkadir Yahaya Gusau on his death. He was an energetic Congressman, who was very diligent and worked very hard for the development of football in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.
“We will miss his guidance and wise counsel, even as we are happy that he left his giant footprints in the sands of time.”
The late Yahaya Gusau is survived by one wife and 14 children.
