Nigeria’s Jide Ipaye, founder of fast-rising shoe manufacturing company, Keexs Footwear, and two other style icons from across Africa will be featured in this week’s edition of African Voices, the magazine programme of the Cable News Network, sponsored by telecommunications giant, Globacom.
The programme runs on CNN on Friday at 10.30am, with repeat broadcasts at 4.30pm on Saturday and at 12.30am and 7.30pm on Sunday, while further repeats hold at 11.30am on Monday and at 5.30am on Tuesday.
A vignette from CNN said Ipaye’s brand, Keexs, is reputed by fashion and style pundits as the first innovative and social-oriented footwear brand in Africa, which has brought exciting designs to life and empowered communities through socially-beneficial projects and innovations.
According to Ipaye, the company’s existence was inspired because: “We the citizens need to take more individual and collective initiatives towards correcting some of our social issues (economy and society) rather than sitting around complaining and waiting for our leaders to solve everything.”
In the same vein, the duo of Noella Coursaris of Congo and Mauritian designer, Mario Guillot, will also be featured in the programme.
A graduate of business management, Noella Coursaris is an international model and philanthropist of Congolese, Swiss and Cypriot origin.
She was transformed from the pages of fashion magazines like Vogue and Vanity Fair to the global stage as an advocate for Africa’s youth development, and is scheduled to talk to viewers of African Voices about her non-profit grassroots organization that she has employed as an agent of empowerment of Congolese girls and their communities through education and health-related programs.
Mario Guillot, a French designer, is domiciled in Mauritius, which he has called home for years.
His IV Play fashion company is a fast-selling brand with five outlets in Mauritius, where it is on the same pedestal as reputed international brands such as Calvin Klein and Diesel.
In a testimonial, Chennai-based entrepreneur, Vijay Jhaver, who won the rights to manufacture and distribute the IV Play brand in India said, “It is also a huge hit among tourists.”
