Defending champions, Enyimba International of Aba, and their Dolphins of Port Harcourt counterpart have both qualified for this year’s Federation Cup final.
Enyimba piped Giwa FC, who played their first-ever Fed Cup semi-final by a lone goal in Abeokuta, while Dolphins FC silenced the giants killers, Prime FC of Ogbomoso, by 1-0 at the FIFA Gold Project Pitch, Abuja.
In Abuja, Dolphins’ Ebube Okpokwu broke the deadlock in the 80th minute to book a place in the final for the Port Harcourt side after seven years.
The Port Harcourt-based club were champions in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007.
Cameroon striker, Raphael Boumsong, grabbed the lone goal to land the Peoples Elephant in final after Mfon Udoh missed the best chance in the opening minutes of the encounter.
The Aba Millionaires have reached the Cup final four in the last five editions of the tournament.
Enyimba defeated Warri Wolves on penalties to win the 2013 edition of the Federation Cup.
Both games in Abeokuta and Abuja produced red cards, with Prime FC losing Abdullah Fatai, while Giwa’s Ifeanyi Anaemena also got the marching order for dangerous play against their opponents.
The final is tentatively slated to hold on August 16 in Lagos.
