Nigeria’s sole representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Bayelsa United, is walking a tight rope after losing two nil to Ivorian side, Sewe Sports, in the first leg play-off clash on Sunday.
Sewe scored a goal in each half of the tie at the Stade R. Champroux to give themselves a good chance of making the group phase of the second-tier club competition.
Bayelsa United will have themselves to blame for the tight situation they are now as momentary loss of concentration saw them conceding late in the first and second halves.
Assale Roger, who easily could pass for the tormentor-in-chief in the Sewe line up, got the two goals for the hosts.
Before now, Bayelsa United had turned around first leg results that ended goalless and 2-1 in Bulawayo.
The Restoration Boys will now have to double their effort to cancel the 2-0 deficit from Sunday’s match to keep Nigeria’s flag flying on the continent.
