Despite the promises of delivering the state to Dr. Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party and the gagging of the opposition by Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, literally humiliated both the President and the governor.
Buhari took the state, under the watch of the PDP, by a huge margin.
He polled 931,598 votes to Jonathan’s 86,085 votes.
Apart from the presidential election, the PDP also suffered humiliating defeats in the National Assembly elections.
Yuguda, owing to his politics of exclusion, had pushed several big wigs of the PDP out, with the APC welcoming them with open arms.
