The Nigerian Army will commence a training code named “Exercise Crocodile Smile” in the 82 Division and part of 2 Division’s areas of responsibility traversing the South South geopolitical region at the weekend.
This was contained in a statement by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, in Abuja on Thursday.
Usman said the aim of the exercise “is to practice its Special Forces and other units of the Army in Amphibious and Internal Security Operations in riverine environment.
“It is also to check criminal activities like kidnapping, militancy, piracy and other forms of criminal activities.”
Usman added that the exercise “is in support of the civil authority”.
He urged the general public not to panic on the sight of unusual movement of large number of troops, heavy military weapons and equipment in these areas.
