The Code of Conduct Bureau in Kano State has advised elected local government officials who have yet to return their completed asset declaration forms to do so before the expiration of the stipulated period or face the wrath of the law.
The CCB Director in the state, Umar Saulawa, gave the advice in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on Thursday.
He also advised those who were yet to collect the forms, especially councillors, secretaries and vice chairmen, to do so without further delay.
According to him, no fewer than 44 newly elected local government council chairmen in the state collected the asset declaration form.
Saulawa added that 44 vice chairmen, 44 secretaries and councillors had also collected forms.
He said that out of the 44 chairmen who collected the forms, only 34 returned their completed forms, adding that out of 44 vice chairmen who collected the forms, only 22 have returned the forms.
He said: “Out of the 44 local government secretaries that collected the forms, only 12 returned their completed forms so far.
“We have many councillors here in Kano State, most of them have not collected the forms, while those who collected have yet to return them.”
He said CCB was making efforts through the local government inspectorate unit to get across the remaining councillors to get their asset declaration forms to fill and return them.
Saulawa said: “The constitution provides that all elected office holders should collect, fill and return the asset declaration form even before they are sworn in as office holders.”
