Sixteen persons were on Monday roasted to death in an accident at Kakapangi, near Kateregi in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State.
The accident was said to have been a head-on collision.
The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus conveying traders from Oyo State to Minna and a Tanker loaded with petroleum product enroute Bida town.
On the impact of the collision, both vehicles went up in flames.
The eyewitness said the driver of the commercial vehicle and his 15 passengers were trapped.
The spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Malam Raji Ejigogo, confirmed the development.
Ejigogo, however, said the details available to him were still sketchy.
He said: “We cannot say the number of casualty.
“Our emergency accident team has gone to the area for an on the spot investigation.”
This brings to two in about three weeks accidents in Niger State with high fatality.
About three weeks ago, 13 persons also died in an accident along the Bida-Minna Road.
