Ahead of the national finals of the ongoing Airtel Rising Star Season 4, organisers of the youth football tournament and leading telecommunications operator, Airtel Nigeria, on Friday announced draws for the boys and girls categories of the football tournament.
An official of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, while announcing the draw on Friday in Lagos, stated that Team D from Port Harcourt in the male category will meet Team C of Enugu, Team A from Abuja will clahs with team B from Ilorin, while Team E from Lagos will play against one of the winners of the two matches.
In the female category, Team B from Lagos will meet Team A from Enugu, Team D from Port Harcourt plays with Team C from Abuja, Team E from Ilorin will meet one of the winners of the two teams.
The four-day national finals is scheduled hold between July 30 and August 2, at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, Lagos.
It promises exciting football actions and thrills from boys and girls from across various states of the country, including Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The five zonal champions representing Lagos, Kwara, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Abuja are set for battle in the crucial encounters, which will ultimately produce the national champion.
The female team Lagos and male Team Oyo State are representing Lagos, while Kwara is represented by the boys and girls Team Kwara.
Enugu will be represented by White Chiefs FC in the male category and Princesses FC in the female category.
The Federal Capital Territory Boys team and Plateau State girls team will fly the flag of Abuja zone, while Port Harcourt Team is representing Port Harcourt in both the male and female categories.
The technical advisers of the tournament, Peter Rufai,Chioma Ajunwa and Ann Chiejiena all lauded Airtel’s initiative for the Nigerian youths and spoke extensively on the success of the screening in the five geopolitical zones of the country.
