The Yobe State Government has constituted a technical committee to develop statistical master plan to guide the government on planning, policy development, performance rating and evaluation.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam made the disclosure on Monday in Damaturu while inaugurating the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey, organised by the National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the Yobe State Government.
Represented by Alhaji Idi Gubana, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Gaidam said the master plan would address the challenges affecting statistical development.
He added that it would also provide information to assist the government in the provision of social amenities to communities in accordance with the statistical data and will also enhance sustainable development.
Gaidam said: “The data will assist the government in planning and execution of social services including schools, healthcare facilities, water and other infrastructures.”
He called on communities in the state to support the success of the exercise in their areas.
In his remarks, Alhaji Musa Yusuf, the Coordinator, National Bureau of Statistics in Yobe State, said that the multiple cluster survey would be conducted in five areas.
He listed the areas to include women and children, health, education, child protection and HIV/AIDS.
Yusuf said that the survey would also provide data for post MDGs and SDGs agenda, planning and effective monitoring.
Alhaji Musa Amshi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, called for the expansion of coverage areas to generate adequate data for use by government.
Amshi said: “I implore the government to expand the area of coverage for the trail survey to generate wider and accurate statistics to be used by government.”
