The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and the newly-elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, on Sunday met with a former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Bode George, The PUNCH is reporting.
George was one of the national chairmanship aspirants of the PDP that withdrew from the race at the National Convention, paving the way for the emergence of Secondus.
Among others, George complained about the refusal of the party to micro zone the national chairmanship and comments made on the Yoruba race by Wike in a television interview a few hours before decided to withdraw from the race.
The PUNCH said Wike and Secondus visited George on Sunday night at his Maitama home in Abuja.
The PUNCH said it learnt George told Wike to apologise to the Yoruba for his comments on the television programme on Friday, arguing that refusing to do so would make it very difficult for them to campaign in Yorubaland in 2019.
Secondus was said to have told George that he would work with everyone and nobody would feel marginalised in the party.
