The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Saturday’s governorship election in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, the winner.
INEC declared Wike winner on Monday evening.
He polled 1,029,102, votes.
His closest challenger and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, scored 124,896 votes.
Third was Prince Tonye Princewill of the Labour Party, who got a paltry 10,142 votes.
The APC is the government in power in Rivers State.
