The Rivers State Governor-Elect, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has assured workers in the state that he will have a functional relationship with them premised on mutual respect and the interest of the state.
In a Workers Day Message on Friday, Wike congratulated the workers and urged them to join hands with his Administration to rebuild the state after years of maladministration.
He stated that his development blueprint, the New Rivers Vision 2015, was carefully designed to incorporate the contributions of workers from the public and private sectors towards the growth of the state.
Wike noted that the choice of his deputy, Dr. Ipalibo Banigo, was made to always accommodate the interests of Rivers State workers as she had served the state as Head of Service, Secretary to the State Government and Permanent Secretary with enormous experience in government-workers relations.
He assured Rivers State workers of better days ahead, noting that they would benefit from a new Rivers State, which will be rewarding for all residents of the state.
While commending the state workers for their service, he said the coming era will require more commitment and sacrifice to right the wrongs in the state.
He said: “I felicitate with all workers in our beloved state on the occasion of the Workers Day. As we celebrate our workers for their contributions to the growth of the state, I urge the workers to join us in reviving our state.
“We are committed to building a functional and mutually beneficial relationship with all workers in the state as we believe that they are critical stakeholders in our quest to build a New Rivers State.”
