There has been another derailment of the train operating on the Warri-Itakpe route.
The derailment, on Tuesday, comes after a similar one on the same route in January 2023 inside the forest in Kogi State.
Following the derailment in 2023, the service returned on April 24, 2024.
The Management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, which confirmed the latest derailment on Tuesday, also announced the suspension of the Warri-Itakpe Train Services.

The Management said in a statement: “Our highly esteemed passengers, we are sad to let you know that due to the derailment of our passenger’s train( WITS 01) yesterday at Ajaokuta station our train schedule for today will not run.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.
“Work on the derailment site in order to fix the derailed locomotive back to track will commence today.

“Therefore no movement today, further communication on the commencement of operations will be promptly communicated.
“We regret the hardship this might have caused you as you take other alternatives.”
