Newly-elected Confederation of African Football Executive Member, Amaju Pinnick has returned to the country after the election held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with promises to improve football administration on the continent.
Pinnick, who arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport at about 12:30pm aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight on Friday, assured Nigerians that a new phase of change will be witnessed under Ahmad Ahmad as the president of CAF.
The NFF chief was accompanied by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Chief Obinna Ogba; the NFF 1st Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi; and the Nigeria Athletics Federation President, Chief Solomon Ogba.
Speaking on arrival, Pinnick promised that the new CAF executives are passionate about developing football on the continent.
He said: “We are aware that expectations are high in terms of improving the game all round.
“We are going to take our time to study the situation and come out with a blueprint to take our football to the next level.”
Pinnick thanked the Presidency for the support given him to represent the country at the continental level.
He said of the outcome of the election held on Thursday: “I must say Nigeria stands a greater chance to benefit in this new executive committee at CAF. I can assure you that you are going get a good representation from now on.”
