Akinwunmi who currently serves as the vice president of the outgoing Amaju Pinnick administration stated that he plans to run an all-inclusive board with the sole mission of repositioning football in the country.He also mentioned he will drive marketing plans to support the national teams and clubs on the local leagues competing both on the local scene and on the international stage.

All these are at the centre of the work being done by the Future Assured Programme of the Aisha Buhari Foundation of Her Excellency, Dr (Mrs) Aisha Buhari.

Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the tournament, Seyi Akinwunmi, who made this known on Friday, said that the theme resonated with the vision and mission of the organizing committee to use the tournament to uphold the honour of the name and Office of Her Excellency, highlight the good causes of the Aisha Buhari Foundation and build and sustain positive narratives about the City of Lagos and Nigeria at large.

The meeting, which also had in attendance the NFF 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi (also Chairman of the Football Committee); Mallam Shehu Dikko, NFF 2nd Vice President/Chairman, LMC; Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, NFF Executive Member/Chairman, Referees Committee; Senator Obinna Ogba, NFF Executive Member/Chairman, NNL; Otunba Tade Azeez (President, Nigeria Referees Association); and Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, NFF General Secretary, deliberated on niggling issues around the League, particularly welfare of officials and resolved to tackle matters head-on in the interest of the domestic game.
