Kehinde Laniyan, the Secretary of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball
Association, said on Monday that US Major League Baseball scouts would
soon arrive in the country for a two-day scouting programme.
Laniyan told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the programme
would hold on September 7 and 8 at the Adewole Park in Ilorin, Kwara
State.
He added that players from other neighbouring countries like Benin
Republic, Togo and Cameroon would also participate in the programme.
He said: “Scouts from Major League Baseball from the US will be in the
country to scout for players that will be given the opportunity to
play abroad.
“Nigeria will be the centre because other countries from this region
will also be part of the programme.”
He added that the selected players would go through another trial in
South Africa to further test their ability in the sport.
Laniyan urged the players to take advantage of the programme to boost
their career prospects.
