The Police in Borno State on Wednesday confirmed the killing of three persons, including two suspected suicide bombers, who detonated explosives along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway on Tuesday night.
Aderemi Opadokun, the Commissioner of Police in the state, revealed this to newsmen in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Opadokun said: “There was an explosion at about 22.10 hours on Tuesday near the Airport Round-About, along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway.
“Two suspected suicide bombers on foot detonated Improvised Explosive Devise strapped on their bodies, according to our investigation.
“The bombers killed themselves and a security personnel during the incident.
“The police has visited and comb the area to ensure that the place is safe.”
Opadoku said the police had taken the bodies to the Morgue, while investigations continues.
