Two senior prisons officers retired following appointment of new CG

Following the appointment of Ja’afaru Ahmed as the Controller-General of the Nigerian Prisons Service, two top officers of the Service have been forced to retire.
The decision to retire the senior prisons officers was taken by the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board at an emergency meeting held on June 27, 2016.
Those retired were a Deputy Controller-General and an Assistant Controller-General of Prisons.
They were Aminu Suley and Ali Bala Salami.
The letter, signed by the Secretary of the Board, Alhaji A. A. Ibrahim, dated June 28, 2016 indicated that the decision was taken due to the officers’ seniority in service to the new Controller-General of Prisons and in consonance with military and paramilitary convention.
While wishing them good luck in their future endeavours,  the Board commended Suley and Salami for their contributions to the development of the Nigerian Prisons Service.
