Two men, Ahmed Waris and Wasiu Taiwo, on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged attempt to kill one Michael Akinsola with machete.
Waris, 20 and Taiwo, 24, are facing a two-count charge of attempted murder and conspiracy.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Doney Raphael, told the court that the defendants committed the offences with some other persons still at large on March 18 at Costain area of Lagos.
Raphael said the defendants attempted to murder Akinsola when they used a machete to inflict injury on his body.
He said the police arrested the defendants, while their accomplices escaped.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 230 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, O. G. Oghre, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Oghre adjourned the case till August 3 for mention.
