The management of Twitter has has reacted to the ban placed on it by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The social media platform made its position known in a statement posted in its Public Policy handle.
The Federal Government had through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the ban of Twitter on Friday.
Mohammed said going forward, the National Broadcasting Commission will regulate the social media.
Reacting to the development, Twitter said: “We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society.
“We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world. #KeepitOn.”
