Trailer crashes into CBN premises in Jos

An articulated vehicle on Friday crashed into the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The vehicle, with registration number EPL 756 XD, crashed into the CBN building at 6:30am and destroyed over 70 per cent of its goods.
The vehicle was parked on the road side leading to the CBN building by the Plateau State Teaching Hospital when it rolled and crashed into the building.
An eyewitness said the driver was sleeping in the vehicle when the incident occurred and all his efforts to ignite the vehicle proved abortive.
The driver lost control as the steering and breaking system malfunctioned.
Although no life was lost in the incident, the trailer crashed into a Peugeot car belonging to Kanke Local Government Area mass transit.
The trailer, which belonged to the Qualitec Aluminium Industry Limited, conveyed goods from the company in Lagos to Alumetal Nigeria Limited, handling the roofing work at the ongoing expansion of the CBN building.
The site engineer of Alumetal Nigeria Limited, Musa Isiaka, said that his company would not take responsibility for the incident as the goods had not yet reached its destination.
According to Isiaka, all we will do is to gather all the needed information and send it to the company that owns the trailer in Lagos so as to make them act fast.
Isiaka said: “We are doing this because our company and theirs are partners in business and the goods are from us.
“Since we are on ground, if we don’t assist, it won’t augur well.”
An official of the apex bank, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that the bank had urged the police to investigate the incident.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Felicia Anselem, confirmed the incident.
Anselem promised that “no stone will be left unturned to get to the root cause of the incident.”
