The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 polls in Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has crowned the captain of Argentina’s national football team, Lionel Messi: “Emi lo kan of Doha.”
The crowing of Messi by Tinubu via the social media came minutes after Argentina won the World Cup on Sunday.
The final match of the 2022 World Cup was played in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.
Lionel Messi was the architect of the victory of Argentina in the final match against France.
The match ended 3-3 after 120 minutes of good football.
Argentina went ahead to subdue France in the penalty shootout that followed.
Reacting, Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the APC, crowned Messi, robbed in the native Yoruba flowing gown by the designer of the photograph: “Emi lo kan of Doha.”
The Eagle Online recalls that the phrase: “Emi lo kan,” became a part of the political lexicon of Nigeria after Tinubu said it in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, before the presidential primaries of the APC.
“Emi lo kan” means: “It is my turn.”
Tinubu had insisted at the meeting with members of the APC in Ogun State that it was his turn to rule Nigeria.
