An Osogbo, Osun State Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a teacher, Alao Akeem, 20, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old pupil.
Chief Magistrate Olusola Aluko ordered the accused to be remanded in Ilesa Prison while his counsel, Tajudeen Shitu, files a formal bail application.
The police prosecutor, ASP Wilson Mereti, had earlier told the court that the accused committed offence on April 4 at an uncompleted building opposite St. Peter’s Primary School at Isona, Ilesa.
Mereti said the accused, who was the victim’s teacher, unlawfully and indecently assaulted her.
He said the accused ordered her into an uncompleted building after school hours and took advantage of her.
The prosecutor said the accused was later apprehended when the incident was reported by the victim’s parents.
He said the offence was contrary to Section 32 and punishable under sub section (2) of Osun Child Right Law, 2007.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The case was adjourned till June 17 for hearing.
