Mustapha was quoted to have made the plea by his spokesman, Dapo Okubanjo, in a statement issued on Sunday.
A large number of leaders and stakeholders of the party led by a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Benjamin Yisa, made the call during a solidarity visit to Mustapha’s country home in Ilorin on Sunday.
He stressed that if elected, Mustapha would solidify the party on the strength of his goodwill amongst the tendencies.

The former Speaker stated this in Ilorin on Thursday while playing host to some members of the Forum of Ex-Principal Officers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria who paid him a condolence visit over the death of his father.
Although the party’s mode of election is not clear yet, still the National Covention slated for February 26, will produce substatntive national Executive of the party.
The former Secretary to the State Government stated this when he visited the chairmanship aspirant on a solidarity visit.
Mustapha was Deputy National Chairman of the CPC before the party fused with three other parties to form the APC.
He said this on Thursday in Abuja at the APC Second Annual Public Lecture Summit, with the theme: “The APC beyond 2023.”
The national chairmanship aspirant said this when he spoke with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja on his aspiration.
Mustapha spoke to a select journalists in Lagos, where he also said that if given the opportunity to become the next national chairman of the party, he would ensure that imposition of candidates during elections is brought to an end as such is one of the main reasons for rigging during elections.
Mustapha spoke in Lagos on Friday when he met with some Editors on the upcoming election with no definite date yet.
