The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Akeredolu was reelected with 292,830 votes to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, who had 195,791 votes at the just-concluded Ondo governorship election.

The latest election took place during the closing of the 44th Session of the Facilitation Committee, which held virtually between September 28 and October 2, 2020.
Adesanya, who made the statement while addressing a group of women in Okitipupa on Friday, said this was because of the infrastructure development witnessed in the state.
