Speaking during the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the objective is to vaccinate four million residents in Lagos before the end of 2021.
The CMSCC is a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-led committee, comprising the capital market community and set up to galvanize the capital market ecosystem to play an active role in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.
“This means that 1.32 per cent of the state’s population have received the first dose (of the vaccine),” he said.
Professor Akin Abayomi, the Commissioner for Health in the state, noted in a statement on Monday that all the strides gained in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic would be lost if concerted efforts are not made to protect the borders against the importation of new and mutant strains of the virus which may trigger the third wave of infections.
Speaking virtually during the official unveiling of Evercare Hospital, a tertiary health centre in Lekki, Lagos on Thursday, Osinbajo hailed Sanwo-Olu for showing leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi who disclosed this on Tuesday while reviewing report of the monitoring, inspection and enforcement exercise carried out by the Task Force through the Pharmaceutical Inspectorate Unit (PIU) of the Pharmaceutical Services Directorate of the Ministry of Health, stated that the sealing of the affected pharmacies and patent medicine stores was in accordance with the provisions of Section C34 of the Counterfeit, Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods Miscellaneous Provision Act of 1999.
