The Governors last week reportedly proposed to borrow around N17 trillion from the pension funds after receiving a briefing from the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, who is the Chairman of the National Economic Council Ad Hoc Committee on Leveraging Portion of Accumulated Pension Funds for Investment in the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority.

A statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President disclosed that Buhari, who virtually commissioned the new Head Office Building of Nigerian Police Fund Pensions Ltd, said the government was also focused on ensuring that police officers, who served the nation meritoriously, were resettled into retirement, with some financial support.

The House of Representatives, on Thursday, asked the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to appear before it over alleged discrepancies in the remittance of N33 billion pension deductions by National Pension Commission.

The House of Representative has started investigations into the activities of the National Pension Commission from April 2017 to date on the alleged violation of the Act establishing the commission.

The National Pension Commission has issued licence to the Nigerian University Pension Management Company Ltd to carry out the business of a Pension Fund Administrator in universities.
