Since his appointment as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, a lawyer, senator and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has come under the most virulent attacks and orchestrated media lynching. The same man who was the toast of the Nigerian media and even political associates and opponents on account of his uncommon leadership that wrought uncommon transformation in his state has suddenly become the subject of media hounding.

Ibori, in the reaction by his Media Assistant, Tony Eluemunor, said the content of the letter of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, was incorrect was he had never benefitted from NDDC contracts.
Kalu was reacting to the letter by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, listing the names of members of the National Assembly and others who benefitted from NDDC contracts.
The list of beneficiaries was contained in a letter Akpabio sent to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on July 23, 2020, the highly credible newspaper is reporting.
Akpabio said this in a letter addressed to the House of Representatives and read by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabimila, at the plenary on Thursday.
The summon was sequel to the presentation by a former Managing Director of the NDDC, Joi Nunieh, before the lawmakers through Zoom on Friday.
Nunieh was scheduled to appear before the House of Representatives Panel investigating the NDDC on Thursday, but failed to appear due to the invasion of her residence in Port Harcourt by policemen as early as 4am.
The former MD of the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC had accused Akpabio of sexually assaulting her, a development she said led into her slapping the former Akwa Ibom State Governor.
The South South Buhari Anti-Corruption Group, while reacting to Nunieh’s allegation, said she was the architect of her own misfortune.
