Kufre Ekanem, the Corporate Affairs Adviser of Nigerian Breweries Plc, and Abiola Popoola, a Human Resource icon, have been announced as Goodwill Ambassadors of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State.
The number is the highest ever record of entries submitted by teachers from across the country since the initiative began in 2015.
Nigerian Breweries Plc has extended the entry deadline for the 2018 Golden Pen Awards to July 20, 2018.
Nigerian Breweries Plc Corporate Affairs Adviser, Kufre Ekanem, explained that the extension was due to pressure from teachers across the country who wanted more time to complete the process.
Organisers of the MTOTY and various stakeholders in the nation’s education sector had, at the flag-off of the event last month, encouraged teachers in both public and private secondary schools to participate in the innovative award aimed at rewarding teachers and the teaching profession in the country.
The Corporate Affairs Adviser of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Kufre Ekanem, explained that entries for the 2018 Maltina Teacher of the Year, which opened on May 25, 2018, will close on July 2, 2018.

At an impressive ceremony in the expansive grounds of the brewing giant in Lagos, the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, and NB Plc’s Managing Director/CEO, Jordi Borrut Bel, pledged the total commitment of their establishments to every letter of the contract
The company was presented with the 2017 Sectoral Leadership Award in the Consumer Goods Category (Breweries)
Ekanem said: “We recognise that the arts play an important role in strengthening the cultural values of our society and we believe that we can help to contribute to the breeding of young, emerging talents and create a shared performance space for poets from Nigeria and across the world.”
The company announced that over 250 entries were received when submission closed for this year’s award, which focuses on published reports on Agriculture, Local Sourcing and Industrial Development in 2016
The company, which is the foremost brewer in Nigeria, revved up the atmosphere as its leading brands became the toast of the teeming crowd who had thronged the Atlantic Water Front, venue of the festival.
According to the company, the donation was done in line with its philosophy of Winning with Nigeria and to confirm it identifies with the vision and mission of key stakeholders in the Nigerian project
