In a statement to commemorate this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day (IACD), Mr. Ayode Longe, MRA’s Deputy Executive Director, said: “As we come together today to reaffirm our collective commitment to combating corruption, a major challenge that continues to undermine national development, justice, and equality, we call on young people across Nigeria to unleash their boundless energy and creativity to transform our society for the better.”

The SNM, in a statement jointly signed by Rev Solomon Semaka and Dr Richard Oduma, who described themselves as the Task Force on Illegal CSOs co-conveners, called on the Inspector-General of Police and the intelligence services to strengthen their efforts and beam their searchlight on the activities of criminal syndicates which specialised in blackmailing and extorting unsuspecting government officials using the FOI Act.
Similarly, to attain independence, “skepticism should be a cardinal journalistic virtue of every reporter”.

In the joint statement in Lagos, signed by Lanre Arogundade, IPC’s Executive Director, and Edetaen Ojo, Executive Director of MRA, the organisations announced that Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Governor’s Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, would also be honoured at the ceremony taking place at the Abuja Sheraton Hotel for blazing the trail as the first Governor to facilitate the adoption of an FOI Law at the state level.
