Some communities in Benue, particularly in Bonta, Tse Anyom, Agidi, Adoka, Agune, Awajir, Gbinde, Guleya, Gungul, Aku and Amande in Konshisha and Ullam and Tse Igbom in Gwer East local government areas, have reportedly been under sustained military action so since April 8, 2020, apparently as a reprisal for the earlier killing of military personnel deployed to the area to quell some inter-communal strife.

There has been increased advocacy for such a foreign policy shift among leading US think tanks and lobbyists led by the US Center for Strategic and International Studies, ranked number one think tank and bipartisan organization that “strives to define the future of national security” and Freedom House, another American think tank devoted to the support and defence of democracy and “embattled human rights defenders” around the world.

A Bill for an Act to establish Civil Societies Regulatory Commission for coordinated regulation of CSOs was on Tuesday rejected by members of the House of Representatives.

Some Civil Society Organisations in the country have warned against plans by some unpatriotic groups to blackmail the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, following the 9.6 billion dollars judgement obtained by Process and Industrial Developments Ltd (P & ID).
