The Management of the University stated this in a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Adamu Bargo.

The two unions told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the strike was in compliance with the directive of the committee.
Dr Ray Chikogu, UNIBEN chairman of the ASUU, said this while reacting to the death of Alele-Williams in Benin.
The directive is contained in an official bulletin issued in Kano by the Information and Publication Secretary of the institution, Mr Bala Abdullahi, addressed to the students.
ASUU had, on March 14, announced the extension of its strike by another eight weeks. The university announced that it would close down until further notice.
This came as the umbrella body of Nigerian students flayed the extension of a four-week strike earlier declared by the university lecturers, saying by the action, ASUU was the real enemy of Nigerian students.
