The call was made during a special radio town hall meeting on Thursday in Abuja to commemorate the 2021 International Anti-Corruption Day.

In a statement to mark this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day in Abuja, Mahmoud said the issue of corruption has led to loss of confidence in Nigeria by its citizens both home and abroad due to the activities of fraudsters, corrupt public officials and bad governance by leaders
“By diverting domestic and foreign funds, corruption wrecks economic and social development and increases poverty. It harms everyone, but the poor and vulnerable suffer most.”
The theme of this year’s observance is: “Corruption: an Impediment to the Sustainable Development Goals
The statement, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, added that another $1 trillion is paid in bribes across the world every year
