Justice Okon Abang after taking arguments from counsel to parties in the case on Friday, adjourned the matter at the instance of Dan-Galadima, who stood surety for Faisal
Justice Okon Abang gave the order following an oral application by the counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mohammed Abubakar, to that effect
Justice Okon Abang, in a ruling, said the application succeeded in accordance with Section 349(7) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015.
A top intelligence officer told PRNigeria that the arrest was made possible due to an existing mutual relationship and security agreement between the two neighbouring countries
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission disclosed this in the counter-affidavit it filed against the bail application filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume.
Faisal is being prosecuted before the court on money laundering related offences.
Justice Okon Abang, who made the order, also issued a bench warrant for his arrest “anywhere he is sighted by security agencies.”
Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, where Maina is facing 12 counts, made the remark in his ruling on Tuesday.
Justice Okon Abang, who gave the order in a ruling, also issued a bench warrant for Maina’s arrest anywhere he is sighted.
Ndume disclosed this while responding to Justice Okon Abang’s question on the whereabouts of the ex-pension reform boss.
The absence of the judge also hindered continuation of other matters, including the alleged N29 billion money laundering charges against former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, and others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, scheduled for the day’s proceeding.
The News Agency of Nigeria had reported that the ongoing trial of Maina was on Monday hindered by the absence of the judge and the ex-pension reform boss.
Although Justice Abang and Maina were not in court for the day’s proceeding, Senator Ali Ndume, who is standing as surety for the ex-pension reformed boss, was in court.
Ndume, who is standing as surety for Maina, revealed this to Justice Okon Abang following the ex-Pension boss’ absence in court for the third time, which had stalled the ongoing trial.
When the matter was called by the court registrar, counsel for Maina, Francis Oronsaye, tendered an apology on behalf of his client to Justice Okon Abang.
In the petition made available to newsmen on Wednesday, Maina sought a review of the criminal charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
However, Maina’s Lawyer, Adeola Adedipe, in a telephone interview with NAN on Tuesday, said the ex-PRTT boss was finally released on Monday evening after completing the necessary documents for his freedom.
The court further varied the bail conditions eight months after his inability to meet the terms.
Maina had on Tuesday informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that the Borno South Senator had agreed to stand as surety for the bail granted him by the court.
