Stoke City boss, Mark Hughes, is set to fast-track new signing, Victor Moses, into his first team plans after being left smarting by his side’s opening-day loss to Aston Villa.
Moses completed his season-long loan from Chelsea over the weekend and now has a week’s training to force himself into next Sunday’s starting 11 at Hull City.
Hughes acknowledged that the 23-year-old’s arrival will probably conclude incoming transfers this window, after finally pulling the plug on chasing wingers Oussama Assaidi from Liverpool and Nathan Redmond from Norwich.
“We’re pleased we’ve been able to get him in,” said Hughes, “and that’s probably all our business done now.
“We feel he’s a player that can give us power and give us pace and we’ve probably lacked that a bit.
“Obviously we were chasing different targets, but they weren’t possible, and to have the option of Victor Moses is great because we didn’t think we would have that opportunity.”
Hughes believes Moses, a Nigerian international with England youth and under-21 representation before that, is itching to re-ignite his career after just half-a-dozen league starts during a season-long loan to Liverpool last term.
“He hasn’t played a great deal in the last couple of seasons, so he wants to play and he will be given that opportunity. It’s up to him if he takes it and I’m sure he will.
“They (Liverpool) found a way of playing they stuck to and he was left out. I don’t think it was his fault, he just didn’t get back into the team. That can happen when you go to a big club.”
