The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Abuja has arrested six suspects for one chance and armed robbery along Zuba and Lugbe axis.
The spokesperson of the Command, Mariam Yusuf, revealed this in a statement on Sunday.
Yusuf gave the names of two of the male suspects as Ishmael Peter, 31, and Omeka Kadiru, 20, said to have been arrested by eagle-eyed Police detectives from Zuba Division on routine patrol in the wee hours of April 29, 2021 while attempting to dispossess their victim of her belongings.
The suspects, who parade themselves as commercial drivers, confessed that they lure their unsuspecting victims (women) into their operational vehicle before carrying out their nefarious act.
Exhibits recovered were one red colour Toyota Corolla with registration number BWA 782 BD, one fabricated beretta pistol, six rounds of live ammunition, one plier, one chisel, two ATM cards, one camouflage cap and vest, three different number plates, seven human hair, 10 mobile phones, bunch of keys, two pairs of female shoes, four female hand bags, cash of N128,120, one invoice booklet, one lighter, six pieces of female clothes and other items.
Relatedly, Police Operatives from Lugbe Division arrested one Emmanuel Joseph, 26; Thankgod Abam, 26; Gabriel Joshua, 27; and Ekene Nwatu, 31, all male, for robbery.
The suspects confessed to terrorising Lugbe axis using fraudulent means to dispossess unsuspecting residents of their possessions.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects are: one red colour Toyota Corolla with registration number BDG 648 EZ, six plasma TVs, jewelries and several household items.
Yusuf said the suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.
She also restated the position of the Command banning the use of unauthorised covered number plates within the FCT.
She said violators will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
