Six people have been confirmed dead in an auto crash that occurred on Monday near a private quarry company at kilometre 114, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, an official said.
The vehicles involved were a commercial Mazda bus, marked Oyo XE 675 LUY, and a Mack truck, with Lagos registration number XX 455 GGE.
The six victims, four males and two females, were said to have died on the spot.
The Assistant Corps Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Oluyole Unit 1, Sanya Adeoye, told NAN that the cause of the crash could not be immediately ascertained.
Adeoye said: “Immediately the FRSC team was informed, it moved to the scene to ascertain the remote and immediate causes.
“The bus veered off the road and hit the stationery truck by the side of the road.
“We could not ascertain the cause of the crash but we strongly suspected there was a mechanical deficiency that made the driver of the bus to veer off the road.”
Adeoye said 14 passengers were involved in the crash, adding that the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital morgue in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He added that the injured victims are receiving treatment at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Adeoye told NAN that N64,210 and five Euros were recovered from the scene of the crash.
