Sheffield Wednesday boss, Dave Jones, has rubbished speculation the club are looking to sign Newcastle United forward, Shola Ameobi.
The 31-year-old forward is expected to leave St James’ Park this summer to go in search of more regular first-team football.
Wednesday were one of the clubs believed to be looking at the physical frontman but Jones has distanced the South Yorkshire outfit from the Toon forward.
He told the Sheffield Star: “I don’t know where people keep getting these names from.
“One minute it is Kenwyne Jones and the next it is Shola Ameobi.
“People keep linking us with players who are at clubs with far bigger wage bills than ourselves.
“It is absolutely ridiculous.”
