The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillip Shaibu, has stormed out of a function where his boss, with whom he is estranged, Godwin Obaseki, and a former Governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, embraced.
The event, on Monday, was a ceremony marking the referendum that gave birth to the defunct Mid-West Region.
According to available information, when Shaibu arrived after the Governor and other guests had been seated, his aides, largely his media team, were prevented from entering.
After attempts to persuade security agents to allow himself and his team to enter the venue of the function failed, the Deputy Governor was seen in a video by Arise TV beckoning his aides for them to leave.
Meanwhile, inside the venue of the event, Obaseki and Oshiomhole, who are sworn political enemies, were seen locked in a warm embrace and discussing.
Oshiomhole, the representative of Edo North Senatorial District, was invited to the function in his capacity as a former Governor of the state.
The two men fell out shortly after Obaseki succeeded Oshiomhole, leading to the former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress preventing his successor from getting the ticket of the All Progressives Congress to seek a second term.

Obaseki moved on to the Peoples Democratic Party to seek a second term.
In the PDP, despite staunch opposition, he insisted on having Shaibu, the “political son” of Oshiomhole, as his running mate for another term together.
He had his way.
