Seven persons have been reported dead in a fresh attack by gunmen on Kaguru villages in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday.
The attack was said to have been carried out by gunmen numbering about 50.
Several other persons were also injured in the attack and are being treated at the General Hospital in Birnin Gwari.
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Muktar Husseini Aliyu, confirmed the development.
Aliyu said the police had deployed a detachment of mobile police to the area to restore order.
The Kaduna State Government has also confirmed the development, condoling with the people.
A statement by Samuel Aruwan, the spokesman of Governor Nasir el-Rufai, said the State Emergency Management Agency has been mobilized to provide relief materials to distressed persons and take inventory.
