The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, will on May 14 lead other prominent alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State to brainstorm on sustainable national development.
The event is part of the three-day annual national reunion of the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association taking place at the Oduduwa Hall of the institution.
In a statement, UNIFEMGA National President, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, said Bayo Shittu, the Minister of Communications, will chair the occasion, while Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, and Yusuf are the Guests of Honour.
Egbewole said Prof. Labo Popoola of the University of Ibadan will speak on the theme: “Sustainable National Development: A Challenge to the Muslim Ummah.”
Egbewole said the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Tale Omole, will be the Special Guest of Honour, while Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN) and Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti are the Special Guests.
Lasun, Shittu, Mohammed, Ali, Popoola are all graduates of OAU.
Egbewole said the public lecture was part of the Association’s contribution towards national development in the country.
Highlights of the three-day event, which starts on May 13, include special Jumat service, courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Annual General Meeting and a couples’ retreat in honour of Prof. M.A. Rahaman’s 70th birthday.
Others include visit on the Ooni of Ife, election of new officers, scholarship for students, keep fit exercise, novelty match, visitation to UNIFEMGA student hostel projects and multi-puprsose OAU Central Mosque.
Over 300 delegates are expected to grace the reunion from all the branches, both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora.
