Nigerians of voting age have been admonished to avail themselves the opportunity of the ongoing registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission to obtain their Permanent Voters Card so as to vote God fearing leaders in the 2019 general elections.
Rising from its quarterly National Working Committee meeting on Thursday, a non governmental organization, Christian Conscience group, made the call in a statement jointly signed by its National Chairman, Chief Enock Ajiboso; National Secretary, Dr. Kolawole Verrals; and the Publicity Secretary, Tunji Oguntuase.
According to the group: “The time has come when the services of God fearing leaders and true lovers of the people are needed to sustain the re-building process of the President Buhari-led administration. Our dear nation cannot afford to go back to the dark days where few privileged individuals shamelessly amassed the nations wealth to the detriment of the people.
“All hands must therefore be on deck to encourage committed men and women of integrity, to come out and show interest in the electoral process so as to take our nation to the Promised Land. To achieve this, we urge Nigerians to embrace the continuous registration exercise, get your voters card, keep in a secured place and avoid the temptation of desperate politicians enticing you to sell out your votes. Your PVC is the only weapon that can be used to elect Godly leaders.”
The group commended the Federal Government’s efforts at repositioning the economy while confronting headlong issues of insecurity in some parts of the country.
It urged President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate a fatherly disposition to urgently tackle the senseless and avoidable killings by the Fulani herdsmen, adding: “The inability of the President in making definite and decisive statements on this issue is sending a dangerous signal and casting doubts on his sincerity as he is suppose to be a father to all. No group or ethnicity should claim superiority over another in this Nigeria project.”
The group also urged all Christians to pray ceaselessly for the Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu, who was kidnapped, but was never released with her colleagues for her refusal to denounce Jesus Christ, adding: “We pray God will touch the minds of her abductors to release her unconditionally.”
The group went on to commend the various developmental projects of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in Lagos State and further called on Lagosians to sustain their love and cooperation to the government in its quest to achieving full mega city status for Lagos.
On its Easter message, the group commended Christian political leaders who are Christ-like in the discharge of their duties by providing good leadership, love and care to the populace.
The group therefore urge all Nigerians to love one and other and celebrate moderately during the festive season.
“We should show love and care to the less-privileged amongst us according to the teachings of Jesus Christ,” the group concluded.
