The Nigerian Police on Monday released the letter showing that embattled Senator Dino Melaye was invited over allegation bordering on homicide.
Police had since last week Friday laid siege on the Mississippi, Maitama, Abuja residence of Melaye.
The Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, had claimed Melaye had not been invited by the Nigerian Police Force based on his enquiry from Clerk of the National Assembly.
However, the Police in latter dated July 23 showed that the Clerk of the National Assembly received the letter of invitation of Senator Melaye from the Kogi State Police Command.
The letter was signed by the Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga.
Melaye was expected to appear before the Police on July 26, 2018, about five months ago, at the headquarters of the Kogi State Police Command in Lokoja.
The letter reads: “The office is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide reported against distinguished Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial Zone.
“You are kindly requested to inform the said Senator Melaye to report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command through the undersigned on Thursday 26th July, 2018 at 1100hour to assist Police investigation.”
