The Police in Anambra State have recovered four corpses from rubbles of the collapsed uncompleted four-storey building at a church premises in Onitsha.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Emeka Chukwuemeka, told newsmen in Onitsha on Tuesday that the corpses had been deposited in a mortuary.
Chukwuemeka said there was no official complaint from the church, owners of the collapsed building, or from the contractors handling the project.
“The police are still waiting for official report from the necessary authorities,” he said.
Chukwuemeka said that in line with Governor Willie Obiano’s directive, the police had commenced investigation into the cause of the collapse.
The building collapsed, trapping about four persons on Monday at about 1pm.
