There is serious grumbling within the rank and file of the Plateau State Police Command.
This is as a result of allegations of sharp financial practices in the command.
The affected personnel are appealing to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, to step up efforts to investigate some of the illegal deductions of money from their salaries and non-payment of allowances.
Police sources, including some of the recently promoted Inspectors of Police in the Plateau State Command, who spoke Friday with The Eagle Online on condition of anonymity, alleged that their rent dues have been withheld for several months now.
They said this has been without any explanation.
Part of their grievances also was that by the end of last year, N11,000 was deducted from their salaries as contribution towards compulsory purchase of shares and another N5,000 deduction from their April salaries.
The Eagle online was told by the aggrieved personnel that the Command was promoting corruption by not paying salaries of officers who transferred their pay point to Plateau State in the past four months.
Some also expressed concern over the failure to increase their salaries in the past eight months that they have been promoted.
As at the time of filing this report, the Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Chris Olakpe, who is due for pull out of service next month, was not available for comments.
The spokesperson of the Command, Angela Anselem, also could not be reached.
