The Oyo State Police Command says it has, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes, rescued three victims of a kidnap incident that occurred along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road on Tuesday.
Some quarry workers in a Toyota Sienna van were abducted when gunmen blocked their vehicle on their way to a quarry site along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road on Tuesday.
They, however, regained their freedom on Wednesday through the combined efforts of operatives of the State Police Command, local hunters and vigilantes, who stormed the kidnappers’ hideouts and rescued the victims.
The command’s spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed the incident, said: “(On) 29/06/2021 at about 1100hrs, hoodlums numbering about ten blocked Kulum Quarry Road, off Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road.
“During the process, three people were abducted from a Sienna Bus with registration number LUY 835KV. But the victims have been rescued.”
Osifeso said efforts are already on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
