Ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon E. Arase, said plans have been perfected to deploy additional manpower to the two states.
Arase said this is to ensure crime free election in both states.
The Police leadership has also directed the deployment of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad to compliment the Safer Highway Patrol to ensure proper policing of the length and breadth of the nation’s highways.
While briefing members of the Police Management Team in his office, Arase noted that these measures have become imperative to ensure proper monitoring of activities leading to a hitch-fee election.
A statement by the police said these measures are in addition to stepping up Police visibilities on highways in the yuletide and to systematically decapitate hoodlums taking advantage of the season to unleash terror on innocent Nigerians.
