The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of 414 senior police officers to their next ranks.
The Head of Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that three Commissioners of Police were promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector -General of Police, while four Deputy Commissioners of Police moved to Commissioners of Police in addition to 12 Assistant Commissioners of Police who are now Deputy Commissioners of Police.
The spokesman said that the approval were some of the high points of the commission’s 26th Plenary Meeting held in Abuja.
He added that the commission also approved the promotion of 61 Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioners of Police, 30 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents of Police and 48 Deputy Superintendents of Police to Superintendents of Police.
Others are 65 Assistant Superintendents of Police to Deputy Superintendents of Police and 191 Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police.
Ani said: “The three Commissioners of Police promoted to AIG are CP Danjuma Ibrahim, CP Istifanus Shettima and CP Jimoh Omeiza Ozi-Obeh.
“DCP Bello Yahaya, Fave Semali, Mukaddas Garba and D.D. Galadanchi were elevated to the rank of Commissioners.”
He said that the promotions had been conveyed to the Inspector -General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for implementation.
