Plateau partners professional bodies to garner resources

Plateau state government has commenced partnership with professional groups to mobilze funds for the development of the state.
Twenty- two professional bodies including the National institute of Marketing, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Manufacturing Association of Nigeria the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau state chambers of commerce among others have so far been engaged to take a look at issues that would enhance the revenue generation of the state.
At the stakeholders’ round table engagement on tax with the professional groups in THE state, the facilitator, and the marketing communication consultants and CEO of UNIMARK Ltd, Barr. Haroun Audu emphasizes the need and importance taxation.
Stressing that as responsible citizens there was need for every adult to pay their taxes for the development, saying it was in view of that his organization in conjunction with the state revenue board have decided to gather professional bodies to take a cursory look at ways of mobilize funds for the state.
Declaring the programme open, the state governor Jonah Jang expressed happiness about the synergy, saying that the block will form a formidable force in the state’s total tax returns.
Represented by the secretary to the state government, Prof. Shedrack Best, the governor said the government would continue to make best of the little resources to ensure that physical transformation and development is brought to the state.
“This is because, as it is self evident from our projects and programmes of the last seven years , we have done a great deal to create the right environment for the practice of your various professions which has not only enhanced your potentials but give you an edge over your counterparts in other parts of the country”.
He added that the synergy is a welcome development, noting that it will create a mutual relationship between government and professionals.
